Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur
The Rajasthan High Court has its principal seat at Jodhpur; the bench at Jaipur is the secondary seat, not the other way round.
People get this wrong constantly, including some websites run by advocates: Jodhpur is not a bench of the Rajasthan High Court. It is the principal seat. The court was constituted at Jodhpur in 1949 and a bench was later established at Jaipur. It matters practically, because which seat hears your matter depends on where the cause of action arose and which districts fall under which seat — not on which city is closer to you.
For anyone in western Rajasthan — Barmer, Jaisalmer, Pali, Jalore, Sirohi, Nagaur, Bikaner, Balotra — this is the court above your district court. An order passed in your sessions court is challenged here.
The single most common reason a High Court matter is delayed has nothing to do with the court. It is that the certified copy of the impugned order has not been applied for. Nothing can be filed without it, and the time you spend deciding which lawyer to engage is time running against your limitation period. Apply for the copy first. Choose counsel second.

New building on the Dangiyawas bypass near Jhalamand, on the Jaipur highway. The old building near the Umaid Bhawan side of town is no longer where matters are heard.
